Ugandan School

Introduction

NH4 members provide some financial and practical support to the the Nsambya Police Barracks Nursery and Primary School in Uganda.

Other support comes from Surrey Hash House Harriers, St Peter`s Church of England Primary School Farnham and some very generous donations from individual donors.

History

The school was started about 55 years ago by Ida Ssali, the mother of Sanyu (Fuggles) one of the NH4 hashers.  It is a fee-paying school, but the fees are minimal and bursaries are provided for a number of orphaned children.  The school started with just 5 pupils and now has around 800.

Support

Sanyu, her husband Roland and others visited the school some time ago and were unable to leave when the borders were closed due to Covid. During this period, Sanyu and Roland paid a considerable sum from their own pocket to support the school through this period. As you will have guessed from this, the school is very close to their hearts.
