NH4 is a running club based upon the "Hash House Harriers"; a world wide
group formed in the Far East during 1938. We run in the countryside of North Hampshire
and Surrey. All runs are within the bounds of OS Map Sheet 186, and a typical turnout is about 25 to 35 runners each week. For other Hashes in the UK, check out the "Links" menu item on the left.
NH4 was formed on Easter Good Friday in 1981 and has been running ever since. The members who generally live within the area of Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire borders, are of all ages and walks of life.
Based upon the old style Hare and Hounds, Hashing is a cross country run of around 4 - 6 miles
using a trail of flour set by one or two people beforehand, known as "Hares". The rest of the runners then attempt to follow the trail trying to find their way home. This group or searchers are known as the "Hounds".
Young and old can take part, you run (or walk!) at your own pace.
The general idea is to start and end at a pub to work up a thirst and have a friendly, sociable chat afterwards.
It's a fun activity, and not to be taken at all seriously.
